We are pleased to announce that the nomination period for four vacancies on the Gavi CSO Constituency Steering Committee is now open.

Civil society is represented on the Gavi Alliance Board by an elected Board member and alternate. The CSO Board member and alternate are supported by the wider Gavi CSO Constituency — a broad network of over 4000 CSOs from across the globe— and the Gavi CSO Steering Committee, a group of 18 civil society organisations from 15 different countries to guide the Constituency in its work. Each of the CSOs represented on the Gavi CSO Steering Committee brings a unique and valuable perspective to Gavi’s work, as well as important organisational resources to support Gavi's mission. In addition, each organisation plays a different part in ensuring that vaccines reach children. The Steering Committee meets face-to-face two times a year and holds regular monthly calls to advance their strategic goals.

CSOs represented on the Steering Committee serve a non-renewable, three-year term. An organisation that has previously served on the Steering Committee may apply for another term following a two-year hiatus.

The application period for new Steering Committee members is open from 19 February to 18 March, 2018, in order for the newly elected members to participate as observers in the upcoming April 2018 face-to-face SC meeting in Geneva.

Please note that the working language of the Gavi CSO Steering Committee is English, this follows the Gavi Board working method. All nominations must be submitted in English and nominees are required to have a strong command of English, both written and spoken. The call for nominations is issued in English.  

What is the role of a Steering Committee member?

Organisations that are members of the Gavi CSO Steering Committee are expected to represent their organisations as well as communicate with other CSOs and NGOs working on immunisation issues in their country. Ideally, Steering Committee member organisations will have strong links with other CSOs and CSO platforms in their home country, from whom they will actively solicit input and share information.

What does it represent in terms of time commitment?

Each Steering Committee member is expected to give a minimum of 10% of his/her time on a voluntary basis. In practice, SC members often find that the time commitment is greater than 10%. Please note that there is no financial compensation involved in this work.

Quel est le Comité de Pilotage?

La société civile est représentée au sein du Conseil d’administration de Gavi par un membre élu et son suppléant. Ces deux représentants sont soutenu par la Groupe d’intérêt Gavi OSC- un vaste réseau de plus de 4000 OSC à travers le monde- et le comité de pilotage, un groupe de 18 organisations de la société civile de 15 pays différents qui dirige le travail de la Groupe d’intérêt. Chacun des OSC représentées au Comité de pilotage apporte une perspective unique au travail du Gavi, ainsi que des ressources organisationnelles importantes pour soutenir la mission de Gavi. Le Comité de pilotage se réunit en face-à-face deux fois par an, en plus il y a un telco chaque mois.

Les membres du comité de pilotage ont un mandat non renouvelable de trois ans. Une organisation qui a déjà eu un mandat peut avoir un nouveau mandat après une interruption de deux ans.

La période de l’appel aux candidatures pour les nouveaux membres est ouvert du 19 février au 18 mars 2018 pour que les membres élus puissent participer en tant qu'observateurs à la prochaine réunion du Comité de pilotage en avril 2018 à Genève.

Veuillez noter que la langue du travail du comité de pilotage est l’anglais, conformément à la politique du conseil d’administration du Gavi. Tous les candidatures doivent être soumis en anglais et chaque membre de comité de pilotage devrait avoir une bonne maîtrise de l'anglais, écrit et parlé. L’appel aux candidatures est émis en anglais.  

Quel est le rôle d'un membre du Comité de pilotage?

Les organisations qui sont membres du Comité de pilotage Gavi OSC devraient représenter leurs organisations ainsi que communiquer avec d'autres OSC et des ONG travaillant sur les questions de vaccination dans leur pays. Idéalement, les organisations membres du Comité de pilotage auront des liens solides avec d'autres plates-formes OSC dans leur pays d'origine, dont ils vont solliciter activement l'opinion et de partager des informations.

Qu’est-ce que ça représente en terme d’engagement ?

Chaque membre du comité devrait donner un minimum de 10% de son temps sur une base bénévole. Dans la pratique, les membres du comité trouvent souvent que l'engagement de temps est bien supérieure à 10%. Il n'y a pas de compensation financière impliquée dans ce travail.
