Freddy Nkosi

Steering Committee representative: Freddy Nkosi, Country Director 

Mr. Nkosi, who has been working with VillageReach for the past two years, shifted to his new roleas Country Director on January 1, 2020. When he joined the organization in 2018 he worked as the Senior Manager, Advocacy and Communications based in Kinshasa. Over the past two years he has been driving Village Reach policy and advocacy work in the DRC, successfully linking evidence and promising practices in immunization to global and regional political priorities - especially around improving vaccine equity and coverage. 

He also leads regional immunization advocacy efforts across sub-Saharan Africa. 

Before joining VillageReach, Freddy worked for the global consultancy Mott MacDonald where he led efforts to engage government, donors, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to improve governance, transparency and accountability of the education sector in DRC. Prior to that, he spent over a decade at international NGOs.  During his time at the African Monitor, he led a Post 2015 survey to collect the voices of young people and grassroots communities across 10 African countries to influence the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At Planned Parenthood Association of South Africa, he strengthened capacities of CSOs to advocate for an increased access to sexual and reproductive health information and services.

His areas of expertise include policy analysis and advocacy, constituency building, sustainable health financing, knowledge management, managing strategic change, monitoring and evaluation.  He holds an MBA and certificates in Management Program for Non-Profit Organizations, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Project Management among others.
